In a sermon exactly one year from the date of LeRoy's death, I listened as our pastor made the following comment, "Statistically, one out of every one person will die." Thinking about that comment on the way home from church on Christmas Eve, I decided the "fact" that LeRoy died was not at all out of the ordinary. The "reality" of his death IS out of the ordinary in that he is no longer here with us.
Gone are his phone calls, his hugs, his excitement over life's simple pleasures, and gone are the compliments he so adoringly lavished on you, Connie.
In our sermon this morning, pastor made the comment we are here until Jesus comes or calls. LeRoy was called before the rest of us. Steve assures me this is just a temporary separation, not a permanent one; he says I will still have a lifetime to be with LeRoy. That is good because there are dances to dance, games to play, and apologies I want to make -- I am counting on an opportunity to do exactly that.
Connie, you were such a blessing in LeRoy's life. He loved you so much.
From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for being the companion, lover, and rock in his life. You gave his life a purpose. You two were so wonderful together. Someday, you shall be together again :-)
I love you,
Ann
